Tyne and the Fastlyne Tyne and the Fastlyne

For the past 6 years, Tyne & the Fastlyne has been performing out of the State College area in Central Pennsylvania. Tyne & the Fastlyne take banjo, mandolin, electric guitar, upright bass, and drums, and mix them with bluegrass, folk, blues, jazz, gypsy swing, and rock to produce an earthy, energetic style of music that will get you on your feet. Original band members Tyne Replogle (banjo & lead vocals) and Jack Wilkinson (drums & vocals) are joined by newer recruits Bill “Wiggus” Wilgus (mandolin, guitar, & vocals) and John “JK” Kennedy (upright bass).

Three Generations On Strings Three Generations On Strings

Since I began playing the banjo, my grandmother Erma took up the autoharp so that she could practice along with me. Then my mom, Teia, learned how to play the upright bass and “Three Generations on Strings” was born. When I was a teenager, we would perform for small parties, bluegrass festivals, weddings, and the like; my whole family was always going to festivals in the summer. This is also the setting for which I write most of my own songs. I like the laid-back style of folk music, and I think my writing reflects the banjo/guitar, autoharp, and bass instrumentation.

Pap

I would like to dedicate this site in loving memory of my grandfather Tom Snyder. He is the one who actually made it possible for me to learn how to play the banjo. You see, as a young child, I loved to go to yard sales and flea markets with my pap and on one of our excursions, we found a small tenor banjo. Now, being a typical child (or so one would think) I saw this instrument and wanted it. Pap wasn’t so sure of the idea, but said that if I promised to learn how to play, he would consent to buying it for me. I agreed to this proposition and the rest is history.
